About Light Unfolding

Hi, I'm Catherine — Speech Language Pathologist, mum, and founder of Light Unfolding.

I started this practice because parents came to me frustrated with rushed appointments and minimal communication; I wanted to serve my clients and their families better. So, I built Light Unfolding.

Our clinicians are dedicated to the children they work with, and to where their journey goes next. Therapy happens in the naturalistic settings where children actually live. And across speech pathology and occupational therapy, we work together and communicate directly with you — so you're never left guessing what happened in a session, or how their progress is going.

I'm proud to say I'm not the only one serving our community at Light Unfolding. Light Unfolding is now a small team of Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists, run the way it started — with a neuro-affirming focus, and with your child's clinician truly knowing them.

My credentials

  • Certified Speech Pathologist — with both Speech Pathology Australia and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders — Emerson College, Boston, MA
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC), RRHAN and NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Works with clients on speech, language, social communication and executive functioning goals — specialising in children and families with neurodiversities

Who you'll be working with

Two disciplines, working together as one team around your child.

Your child is matched with the clinician who suits them, and that clinician gets to know them properly. When a child sees us for both speech and OT, the two talk to each other — so you're never the one carrying messages between them.

Our Speech Pathologists

We specialise in speech, language, social communication and cognitive skills — including executive functioning skills like working memory, following directions and sustained attention.

Our Occupational Therapists

We specialise in sensory processing, activities of daily living, fine motor and handwriting, and behavioural regulation — as well as executive functioning skills like planning and organising.

Every Light Unfolding clinician holds a current Working with Children Check and relevant clearances.

How we work

Four things every family can count on.

Honesty before enrolment

If your child doesn't need therapy, we'll tell you — on the free call, before you've spent anything. A practice that recommends therapy for every child isn't screening; it's selling.

Therapy where your child lives their life

At school, home, kindy or childcare — not a clinic that's foreign to them. Skills practised in naturalistic settings are skills that last.

You're always kept in the loop

Play-based sessions with clear goals — and a note after every visit, for every family, so you always know what we did and what to try at home.

No billing surprises

Funding options (including NDIS) explained up front, published fees, and a straight answer to "what will this cost?" before you commit.

Fifteen minutes. Honest answers. Zero pressure.

Tell us what you're seeing at home or at school — and let's work out whether it's typical, worth watching, or worth a closer look.
